AI Reskilling · One of three national priorities

The UK has a target to reskill 10 million people for an AI-enabled economy. Most of them work in small businesses.

AI for Growth's reskilling work is built around a simple problem: the training that exists isn't designed for the businesses that need it most. AI for Growth is changing that — with a free peer-to-peer community, the Reskilling Navigator (a conversational AI guide that points people to the right AI training), the AI Strategy Generator (which turns a few details about your business into a tailored AI plan), and reskilling partners who contribute real content, not just credentials.

The challenge

Most AI training wasn't built for businesses like yours.

The UK has set a national target to reskill 10 million people for an AI-enabled economy. The challenge isn't ambition — it's delivery. Most AI training on offer today is too technical, too generic, or too expensive to reach the businesses where most of those 10 million people actually work.

Enterprise organisations have L&D teams, training budgets, and dedicated time for upskilling. Most UK SMEs have none of those things. They have a business to run, a team to manage, and very little tolerance for content that doesn't connect to something they'll actually do on Monday morning.

The result: a growing gap between the AI capability being built at the frontier and the businesses that could benefit from it most. AI for Growth was built, in part, to close that gap.

What we're doing

Three initiatives. One goal: practical AI learning that actually reaches SMEs.

AI for Growth's reskilling work runs through three connected initiatives — all live and free to use today. The SME Community is where business owners learn from each other. The Reskilling Navigator, built with ElevenLabs, is a voice-first guide for people who wouldn't engage with traditional online learning. And the AI Strategy Generator turns a few details about your business into a tailored plan for where to start.

The SME Community

The AI for Growth SME Community is a free, peer-to-peer learning community on Circle — open to any UK business, with no technical knowledge required.

It's where UK business owners share what's actually working with AI, ask questions without embarrassment, and learn from people who've already tried the thing they're thinking about. No jargon. No sales pitches. No curriculum you'll never finish.

The community hosts practical guides written for business owners, not tech teams. It runs regular events featuring UK businesses that have adopted AI and are willing to be honest about what went wrong as well as what went right. And it gives members a place to come back to as their AI use develops — not a one-time training session they'll forget by the following week.

The Reskilling Navigator

The Reskilling Navigator is a conversational AI agent built by AI for Growth with ElevenLabs. Voice and text enabled, it helps SME owners and their teams find the right AI training for their business, their learning goals, and the time they actually have.

It is not another course. The Navigator asks a few simple questions, then points people towards trusted learning resources matched to their needs, drawing on a curated knowledge base rather than rebuilding AI education from scratch.

The Reskilling Navigator is live and free to use — and we're always expanding what it can recommend. If you'd like to contribute as a technology or content partner, get in touch.

The AI Strategy Generator

The AI Strategy Generator is a free tool built by AI for Growth. It looks up your business, asks what you want to achieve with AI, and produces a detailed, tailored strategy — specific to your situation, your sector, and where you are right now.

It is not generic advice. The Generator works through a few qualifying questions before delivering a written strategy that explains the challenge, how it can be addressed, and which AI tools are worth exploring for your business.

Common questions

What people usually ask about AI reskilling.

The UK has set a national target to reskill 10 million people for an AI-enabled economy. AI for Growth contributes to this target by building practical, accessible learning resources designed specifically for UK businesses — and connecting them through a community where people can learn from each other, not just from courses. The work runs across three initiatives: the SME Community on Circle, the Reskilling Navigator built with ElevenLabs, and the AI Strategy Generator.

AI for Growth offers free AI learning for UK SMEs. The SME Community on Circle gives business owners peer-to-peer learning, practical guides, and events — no technical knowledge required. The Reskilling Navigator (built with ElevenLabs) is a live, conversational AI guide that points people towards trusted learning resources matched to their needs. Reskilling partners Multiverse and UpSkill Universe contribute additional sector-specific learning content.

Most AI training is too technical, too generic, or too expensive to roll out at small business scale. SMEs typically don't have L&D teams or week-long course budgets, and most AI training isn't designed with them in mind. AI for Growth is closing that gap with free peer-to-peer learning through the SME Community on Circle, plus the Reskilling Navigator for scalable conversational learning.

Yes. The AI for Growth SME Community is free for any UK SME to join, and the Reskilling Navigator and AI Strategy Generator are both live and free to use today. Resources are funded by partner contributions and the initiative's backing from Founders Forum Group and Accenture — not by user fees. There is no paywall and no hidden upsell.

AI for Growth's reskilling partners are organisations with deep expertise in skills, learning, and workforce development — currently including Multiverse and UpSkill Universe. Partners are selected based on their ability to contribute content, expertise, or reach, not on commercial sponsorship. The goal is to build learning resources grounded in real sector experience and accessible to businesses across the UK.
