AI Adoption in Practice: Compliance, Security and Governance
Details
Most organisations adopting AI are asking two questions. What do we need to do to stay within the law? And what more should we do to be confident it works as intended?
In this practical session, Alexandru Voica, Head of Corporate Affairs and Policy at Synthesia and co-chair of the AI for Growth Security pillar, answers both.
He starts with a few familiar scenarios, such as deploying an AI agent for customer support or using AI to create content at work, and walks through what that deployment involves from a legal, governance and security point of view.
The UK has no equivalent of the EU AI Act, but AI is far from unregulated. Existing law already applies, from UK GDPR and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 to the cyber security rules on how systems and data are protected. Alexandru will set out where each one applies in practice. He will then look beyond compliance, at the governance and systems management that keep AI working safely once it is live. He'll close with a practical AI security checklist you can take back and use in your own organisation.
What you will take away:
- A clear view of the UK rules that already apply to AI, including UK GDPR, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and cyber security requirements
- The governance and security practices that go beyond compliance, so AI systems work safely and as intended
- A practical checklist to assess your own AI security and governance
Who should attend:
Business leaders, and security, data and compliance teams, in organisations that are deploying AI or planning to.
Free to attend, and the session runs from 11am to 11:30am UK time.
